Lusaka, Zambia, 21st March, 2025 - The Sililo Foundation, a leading advocate for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Zambia, is thrilled to announce that the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has recruited 202 teachers with disabilities out of the 285 persons with disabilities who applied, from the 4,200 successful applicants in the year 2025.

This landmark achievement marks a significant milestone in the journey towards inclusive education and employment in Zambia.

"We are overjoyed by the TSC's commitment to inclusivity and diversity," said Mr. Mwiba Edwin, Executive Director of the Sililo Foundation. "The recruitment of 202 teachers with disabilities is a testament to the Commission's dedication to providing equal opportunities for all, regardless of ability."

This recruitment drive is a significant step towards addressing the historical marginalization of persons with disabilities in the teaching profession. By providing opportunities for teachers with disabilities, the TSC is not only promoting inclusivity but also enriching the educational experience for learners.

"The inclusion of teachers with disabilities in the classroom will have a profound impact on the educational landscape in Zambia," added Mr. Mwiba. "It will promote diversity, challenge stereotypes, and provide role models for students with disabilities."

The Sililo Foundation commends the TSC for its leadership in promoting inclusive education and employment. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Commission to ensure that persons with disabilities have equal access to opportunities in education and beyond.
